So if you read my blog at all you know I like to keep it real. I’m not about sugar-coating anything, especially not motherhood. I believe we’ve got to be real about our suffering in order not to make each other feel bad. Also, it’s good to let off a little steam sometimes. And? I love it when y’all chime in and let me know I’m not the only one.

The BFF called me this morning and said she was so inspired by my vacation photos and updates on Facebook. I told her that it was a super fun trip and overall we had a great time, but there were a few issues. She immediately let out a sigh of relief and said thank god, because I was making her feel like something might be wrong with her. Ha! As if.

See? It is possible to be in paradise and be aggravated and annoyed by your family. Case in point: I yelled at Big Daddy on the street while people gawked and stared and the girls were wishing the ground would open up and swallow them.  At one point I actually told Zeta I hated her and wished I hadn’t brought her on the trip. Shameful, I know. But you guys she would not stop bitching and complaining! And we were sitting on the beach at the North Shore watching surfers and it was one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever seen. The girls spotted actual sea turtles in the waves while they were splashing around. And here is Zeta giving me the hardest time possible. So I finally just snapped. I did apologize right away.

Overall, it was the best family vacation ever. We all relaxed, had fun and appreciated our surroundings. It’s not often we Washingtonians get so much sun. The girls thanked me everyday for bringing them there and there wasn’t too much in-fighting.  I guess it’s only normal there would be a few bumps. Right? Tell me we’re normal.

Ive actually called our regular sitter, while on vacation, to ask her what her daily rate is and if she wouldn’t mind picking the kids up at the airport. One time the kids groaned “not the beach again ” for five days straight. And on our last ski trip one child spent a whole unsupervised day in a hotel room.
