Remember back in November when I mentioned I had a fibroid tumor and was planning to see a doctor to figure out what to do?  Well it turns out that I don’t have a fibroid at all. I have a condition called adenomyosisa medical condition characterized by the presence of ectopic glandular tissue found in muscle.  So, it’s super painful and that’s why the ablation failed.

This is a list of possible symptoms and I have them all:

  • Intense debilitating pain all the time and/or
  • Acute & increasing pain at menstration and ovulation
  • Strong ‘contraction’ feel of uterus
  • Abdominal cramps
  • A ‘bearing’ down feeling
  • Pressure on bladder
  • Dragging sensation down thighs and legs
  • Heavy bleeding and flooding
  • Large blood clots
  • Prolonged bleeding i.e.; up to 8–14 days

The great news is it is in no way life-threatening and there is a solution. I can have my uterus removed and viola! First I am going to enjoy my Hawaiian vacation next month and let Big Daddy accumulate a few more vacation days (I won’t be able to drive or left Jemima for a couple weeks, so will need his help). I’d also like to enjoy my birthday. So I’m thinking I’ll get that sucker pulled out in April.

I’m keeping my ovaries so I won’t go into menopause. Which is great, but I’ll still have PMS and all the other peri-menopausal bullshit. But hey, no more periods! No more intense pain that requires 6 vicodin a day the first couple days of my period.

So, there you go. A little medical update from me. Hope you’re all doing well.

So jealous. Would love to get all that shit ripped out. As I’m already on HRT, I extra-extra resent the hell outta my periods. Glad to hear it’s nothing more serious. So jealous.

Yes, I am looking forward to being rid of the blasted uterus! It has served me well and now that it seems to be turning on me, I’m ready to send it to the incinerator.
