Do You Remember
Why I love September:
Pumpkin Spice Latte
I don’t understand why this can’t be served all year. Seriously. At least in August. I mean if Costco can have snowmen displays in August, Starbucks can make a pumpkin spice latte. Am I right?
School supplies
I’m so jealous of my kids, what with their brand new packs of freshly sharpened colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, felt tip pens, notebook paper, glue sticks and fat markers.
School clothes and gear
Who among us wouldn’t love some new clothes for fall? And shoes! And bags and organizers and new socks and underwear? Huh? Who! I mean just look at those cool kicks my kid is sporting!
Cooler days and nights
I love September because while the temperature drops a few degrees and there is a definite chill in the air, it’s still sunny. And it’s not quite cold yet. Or raining all day everyday. September is pretty perfect weather-wise in the PNW. At least for me. I’m sure there are those that would disagree.
Fires in the fireplace
And because it’s cooled off, we can have fires in the fireplace and sip hot cocoa. This is my girls absolute favorite thing about fall and winter nights. And I have to admit, I like it a little bit too. Particularly when I spike my cocoa.
Pot roasts in the oven
The house smells so good and feels so cozy. Plus, everyone loves it! Even the girls. So what if they have to drench it in ketchup in order to eat it? Not me!
Apple pie
Johnson Farm Harvest Fair
There are pony rides and hay rides and sheep shearing! Oh my! And a beer garden! And slides and food and live music! All on a beautiful farm!
Fall colors
Just breath-taking. Not this photo, of course. I took this. But you’ll just have to believe me. I’m surrounded by beauty all season. There is a winding road that goes up a hill near my home and I love driving up it in the fall. It’s lined with majestic trees that are stunning shades of yellow, green, orange and red.
All that talk of Halloween
I have to admit that for Zeta talk of Halloween begins in August. She really gets into dressing up and all that. But the rest of us start thinking and plotting in September. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

I live in the South so you’re September is my October. It’s 100+ degrees today.
You’re welcome, Missy.
Deneen, I grew up in San Diego and September and October are the hottest months! I hated it. I’m so happy to have a true fall.
