Back to school tomorrow! And we are so ready! School supplies have been purchased (What’s with these lists from the school? There were no lists when I was a kid and I’m pretty certain I didn’t purchase any school supplies in grade school. After that it was a Trapper Keeper and a couple Pee Chee folders. Now? I’m lucky to spend under $70 for two kids), school clothes have been bought (Thank you Old Navy for having cute clothes that don’t break mama’s bank).

I just need to dig out their backpacks and lunch boxes (and make sure there is nothing in them like an old apple or something gross like that) and make a few special purchases for their lunches. (By special I mean that crap they beg for like fruit roll-ups and goldfish crackers).

The hard part? Getting the girls to bed early. When it’s still light outside and they aren’t tired. Waking them up in the morning when it’s still dark and they’re sleepy. But we’ll adjust. Or die tryin.

This last day of summer vacation will not be spent at the zoo, the pool or on the San Juan islands (all the things left on our summer to-do list), but at school for the meet and greet, at the grocery store and, for the oldest girl, at a friend’s birthday party. We’ll probably make another run to the library. As we do.

What are you doing on your last day of summer vacation?

  1. Well, we WERE going to be gettin’ ourselves ready for school too but you know, we go to Wilkes. :) BUT, this way we can kick it old school style and start school after Labor Day like we did in the Good Ol’ Days. :)
