Mommy’s Time Out
Because I’ve spent a little too much time with my children as of late, Big Daddy thought it would be a good idea to take them camping last week and leave me home.
(I’m pretty sure he was afraid I’d snap on the camping trip and Deception Pass would seem more like Camp Crystal Lake).
What did I do with my entire weekend alone? Take a ferry to the city and get wild and loose? Call up and old boyfriend and rock it for old time’s sake?
Nope. You know what I did? Nothing. Not. A. Thing. And it was fabulous. I read. I watched movies. I slept in the middle of the bed. I ate what I wanted to eat and I ate it off paper plates!
I vacuumed the house Saturday morning and I didn’t have to vacuum it again all weekend! I didn’t break up fights or raise my voice even once. There was no whining about what was for dinner or how I was going to entertain my poor, bored children.
I felt refreshed and calm. And I didn’t even drink! Or take one xanax.
I think it was a detox. I wish I could do it every weekend.

This should be mandatory, at least, once a month and this frequency should increment in accordance with the amount of kids you have

Yes! It should be mandatory. I think I’m going to try to institute an annual Daddy-Daughter Camping Trip.
Sounds absolutely wonderful. Why is this thing called motherhood so damn hard???
Deneen, because children are involved.
