Friends, Wine & Dessert

The thing I like best about going to San Diego (and the only thing that makes the long drive down worth it) is seeing some of my favorite people on the planet!

This one right here is very high on my (short) list of favorite people.  Chris is so fun, smart, witty and pretty. And? She knows how to party.

Since I was last in San Diego she moved into a new apartment. She had me and Molly and Lisa over for drinks and appies. (I may or may not have consumed an entire bottle of wine while at her place).

These two are also on the short list:

Let me just say that this girl (woman? must I be politically correct?) Is single. And kidless. And younger than that the rest of us gathered that evening. We were all coveting her single girl’s downtown cool pad. It’s very fancy and chic. And did I mention there are no children to muck it up? Or husbands to leave the toilet seat up and their dirty socks on the floor? (Lisa might have actually hugged the kitchen counter and I’m pretty sure we both teared up).  We suggested she rent the bacholorette pad out to middle-aged moms. She’d make a killing.

We walked a couple blocks from Chris’s apartment to a fun Italian restaurant.  Where we had  what amounted to one piece of bruschetta, a couple pieces of argula, a tomato slice and some of the yummiest mozzarella I’ve ever tasted plus a slice of margehrita pizza. And a few glasses of wine. Just a few. Each.

Then we made our way (on foot) to the best dessert place in town.  Where we had a little of this

Some sort of chocolate cheesecake thing that was To. Die. For.

But my favorite was when Chris ordered a bottle of prosecco for the table as soon as we sat down. It was very Real Housewives of her.
