How’s your summer going? I’m not gonna lie, it’s touch and go here. Overall, we’re having fun and it’s going well. But? I’ve got three kids and no matter how you slice it, three’s a lot. Particularly when they are all talking at the same time; fighting; or all wanting me to do something for them right this minute! (This is why I drink, people).

Since summer kicked off we have been having a lot of ice cream and frozen yogurt. Because what’s more iconic than a kid with ice cream on her face? And? It’s yummy, duh.

On the not-so-sunny days, we’ve spent time at our local library. I love this library, y’all.  They put on the best programs for kids. Every Tuesday they have Reading Buddies, where the big kids read to the preschoolers. This is Zeta’s second summer being a reading buddy and she loves it.  They also show movies every other Friday afternoon, have story time and a ton of other fun things. I took Jemima to watch the children’s librarian and a couple volunteers bring the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to life. Which was followed by no less than 5 tables set up with different crafts for the little ones to do.

Here’s Jemima painting letters onto a piece of paper. I had no idea she knew that many letters!

We’re also playing board games and putting puzzles together on cloudy or rainy days

When it is sunny, we’re outside chalking in the street

Or at the beach with friends

We start each day with a little summer school

Gotta keep their little minds sharp.  And give Mama ten minutes to make her Bloody Mary.  What are you doing with your kids this summer?

  1. So, pretty much, you’ve already put together 27 puzzles in the last week? Cute kids there, lady!

Aren’t they adorable? I oversee the puzzle putting together. I don’t do any of it. Because you know 3 year old like to do it all by themselves. Jemima is slightly obsessed with puzzles (another reason the library is my favorite place to bring them).

  3. Summer, in its constancy, can be both beautiful and very hard. I’m writing about something similar this coming Monday.
