This and That
Well, our first weekend of summer was survived. And? It was actually pretty good!
Because Zeta’s softball team won the championship (YAY!), her coach took us all out for some fro yo Friday afternoon.
After the treats, we went to the library to watch The Adventures of Tin Tin. Of course Jemima thought it would be so much more enjoyable if she were to get popcorn every two minutes and dump it in the floor. So I pulled her out of there and took her to the kid’s section to do puzzles and read books.
Zeta has (OMFG, I’m NOT ready) entered puberty. So she ducked out of the movie early to choose a selection of books on puberty for girls.
While I am reeling from this new stage of her life, it would seem she falls in the normal age range for the onset of puberty. So there were a few books geared toward her age (Which, in case you’ve forgotten is 8! Sure, she’ll be 9 in 2 months, but still) (Also, this sort of helps explain her crazy behavior of late and her erratic moods).
Saturday we went to see the cute goats that have been brought in to eat the ivy and brambles. 260 of them, to be exact. Man, they are cute! What with their baaaing and chewing and all those babies!
If you want to see lots of really good pictures of the goats, check out my friend’s blog.
Then we went to see Madagascar 3. Super funny and we were all entertained. Of course that horrible “Afro circus, polka dot, polka dot, afro!” song was stuck in my head for hours. But that’s ok.
Saturday night was double date night! So nice to get away from the kids after all that time spent with them. And to enjoy an evening with good friends. We went to a play reading at the library (is this my favorite place to hang out or what?) and then for drinks (duh).
Yesterday, as you undoubtedly know, was Father’s Day so Big Daddy got to call the shots. Surprisingly he wanted to mow the lawn and go through our camping gear.
After years of a camping hiatus we are camping this coming weekend! Woo hoo.
This is me the last time we went camping. I was 8 months pregnant with Jemima.
So after taking an inventory, he decided we’d better shop for some new gear. The littlest camper doesn’t even have a sleeping bag and the older girls needed new ones. Fishing poles were purchased, new chairs and a new air mattress.
I think we’re all getting pretty excited! Fort Flagler, here we come!
Now all I have to do is make it to Friday without my kids driving me right over the edge.
How was your weekend?
