The Long Weekend
Doe Bay was perfection. Seriously. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. We arrived in the evening and were able to take in the sunset and to walk along the beach. The girls were thrilled to discover tide pools nestled among the rocks.
While they spent hours combing the beach for sea glass, drift wood and oyster shells, I sat on the cliffs above them reading. I cannot remember the last time I felt so calm, happy and at peace. I actually read an entire book over the weekend. Not have a television, computer or video games of course helped. It was actually a relief to not be concerned with what was on TV, who was saying what on Twitter or Facebook or what was being pinned to Pinterest.
The food at the resort was delicious and so were the cocktails. I had a Forbidden Fizz that was made from flavored vodka distilled at the resort and sparkling wine. The bloody Mary I had in the morning was not only SUPER spicy like I like ‘em, but had pickled carrots and green beans and pickle juice! My favorite ingredient in a bloody Mary, but one that is hard to find at most bars/restaurants.
We went into town on Saturday. We took a hay ride with the Easter Bunny, spent a little time petting bunnies and lambs and soaking up the local charm. That evening we built a fire in the fire pit at the resort and roasted marshmallows. So fun. The next morning the girls were thrilled to discover the Easter Bunny had found them in Doe Bay! They spent the morning playing on the beach while Big Daddy and I sat outside our cabin and read and took in the gorgeous view.
Of course it wasn’t all sunshine and lollipops. These are my kids, after all. And I am me. So there was a little bit of a blow out Saturday night. Of course it happened in the car. I do not know why my kids can’t hold it together in that damn minivan! Maybe it’s cursed. We did buy it used. Maybe it’s full of bad mojo. I should look into having that removed somehow. But, overall the weekend was an A+.

Glad you had a good weekend! You should “sage” your minivan. I saw it on one of the crazy housewife shows…she saged her house she bought to rid the evil spirits away…or something like that! Maybe it will work!

Yes, I think I’m going to do that. And perhaps find a shaman to do something too. The damn van needs all the help it can get.
Sounds like you all had a peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable long weekend! And I agree…the scenery is beautiful!
