Blogging, Boozing and Networking
You are dying to hear about my weekend, aren’t you? Well, first let me say that the night spent alone in the hotel was all that I’d dreamed it would be. (Except that no handsome strangers or old boyfriends beat my door down). I was asleep by 9:30pm, snuggled into the crisp, cool sheets of the king bed and didn’t wake up until 6:45am. Seriously the best sleep I had had in months. And? I woke up alone! No feet or elbows in my back. No one whining or fighting with their sister and wanting me to mediate before I had opened my eyes. I could lie in bed and read, sip my coffee and take my time getting ready for the conference.
The Bloggy Boot Camp conference was great! Super informative, lots of fun and there was really yummy wine! What more could a mama ask for? (Just the breaking down of her hotel room door by an old boyfriend). I learned all sorts of things, like how to find my voice; how to write a winning pitch and who to pitch to; how to find inspiration and that I need to not only update my business card but remember to bring a shitload with me to a networking conference! Duh.
I also learned that I really love me some Mirassou wine. Really, it’s good stuff. Go get some. I tried the pinot grigio, pinot noir and the merlot. No, I don’t have a problem. Although I did forget to get my bag from bell check and didn’t even realize it until I was on the ferry! Such a jackass I am. Now Big Daddy has to take a bus to Seatac before work today so he can retrieve it for me. Yeah, jackass. But I digress.
I met some smart, funny women who I now consider to be my friends. It was so great to meet Tiffany Romero and Francesca Banducci, the women behind SITSgirls. They are both hilarious and such fun! And I will now be stalking them on twitter. I also got to chat with Kathy Bouska aka Mama Kat, whose blog I love and have a little blog crush on. She’s a riot. And I won an hour with Tiff and Fran where I can pick their brains and get all sorts of great insight from them! Plus, a $50 gift card to Target! How freaking cool is that?!
By the end of the day I was feeling inspired, tipsy and a bit overwhelmed with the plethora of terrific information I had been given. I let it soak in for a bit (read: I sobered up and went over my notes), and then made a couple little tweaks to my website and a list of other things I want to accomplish in the next couple months. I will definitely be attending Bloggy Boot Camp again. I hear there will be one in Vegas next spring. How can I pass that up?

A quiet night in a hotel room for any Mom is the coolest experience ever! Ahhhhhhh. Pure bliss.
I am attending Bloggy Boot Camp in August and reading all these Seatle posts is making it seem like it is forever and forever from now. Glad to hear you had a great time and I too am looking forward to that empty hotel room.
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed getting to meet you for the quick sec. with Pepper at the mixer. It was a fun day, eh- also incredibly overwhelming
So with you!
Sounds like a great conference. I need to try some of that Mirassou wine.

BBC was a blast! I’ll admit I went into it not thinking I would get much out of it but boy did that theory get shot out of the water!

I went to my first blogging conference a few weeks ago and it’s so inspiring after you leave. The list of stuff I want to do is a mile long! #CommentHour
I don’t think we met at BBC…but I wish we had! I can’t wait for the next blogging conference to come to town…or until we all hop on a plane to Vegas
