I’ve been in denial for several weeks now. I just can’t believe that this summer won’t include Mad Men.  Sure, I’ll still have Big Brother, which will always be my first summer (television) love, but nothing on television compares to Mad Men. The writing, the acting, the set design, the attention to detail. It’s all above and beyond any I’ve seen. And I have seen a lot of television shows, trust me!

Yes, I’m happy that a deal was reached and Mad Men is going to return early next year. Of course a delay beats a cancellation. But, it just makes me so mad that the business end of things has to ruin it for the fans. We may be small in numbers, but we are loyal.  And we are intense. We can’t wait for Sunday night when we will view a new episode. Then we spend from Monday – Saturday dissecting and discussing the entire episode with our friends. Reading every summary and analysis written by TV critics and bloggers alike.

We’ve already spent since November discussing last season.  And we are on the edge of our seats!  Is Don really going to marry that vapid girl? Is Joan’s jerk of a husband going to figure out that baby isn’t his? Is Betty going to finally come all the way undone?  Do I really have to wait until winter 2012 to find out?

Yes, I’ll get through the summer somehow (with margaritas, Big Brother and friends). I’m an adaptable sort. But it won’t be the same.

  1. Stopping by from SITS. Okay, I need to catch-up on last season’s Mad Men — summer is the perfect time to do it. My first avatar was Mad Mening myself!
