Simply The Best

I have watched the soap opera or as I like to call it the story, The Young & The Restless for as long as I can remember. I started out watching it as a toddler at home with my mother.  There have been times over the years when I have stopped watching it (like before the DVR was invented and I couldn’t program my VCR). But I always come back.

The story is awesome. The writers and actors are always winning day time Emmy’s. But couldn’t they come up with some original ideas once in awhile. How many times has Victor been shot? Lost in another city, state, country? How many times has Katherine died? How many times has Victor married Nikki? How many times has Nikki fallen off the wagon? And really? John Abbott’s ghost dispensing advice to his wayward sons. I thought only other stories pulled that sort of sic fi stuff *cough* Days of Our Lives *cough.*

I will say this, as someone who has watched the show for 30+ years, I do love the flashbacks. Some of these actors have been on the show as long as I’ve been watching. Some of them seem to do nothing for years besides wait around for Y&R to write them into a scene (Brock, I’m talking to you). It’s fun to see the clips from 1986 with the bad hair and baby-faced actors. Also? Y&R always chooses really great songs for the flashback and montage scenes.

But, when I am watching lately I feel like I could write a better script. Come on, writers! Come up with something new. Please.
