Mission Accomplished
Well, I finally finished that scarf for Zeta. The truth is, I started over Sunday night and finished it last night. My first attempt was just looking way too sad and crazy. But on the advice of a consummate knitter and good friend, I saved the piece to remind myself how far I’ve come (once I get far) and to show the girls so they’ll see even an accomplished knitter (which someday I’ll be) starts out knitting like a monkey.
Zeta is thrilled with the result and I’m pretty proud of myself. It is far from perfect – I’m not very good at casting off and it’s more of an ascot due to the failed first attempt - but I’m happy I set out to do something and actually did it! I’m a big quitter-in-the-middle-of-the-project type gal, so this is a pretty big deal for me. Also? I’m really getting into that whole zen groove thing knitters talk about. I’m eager to knit something else now! Probably a scarf for Nita so she won’t feel left out. But before I do that, I’m going to tackle the sewing machine. I’ve got a great pattern for a bag I’d like to use to carry my knitting supplies.

Oh man. I love this on every possible level. Great yarn, great color choice, great girl, great mama! I’m so glad you’re getting into knitting – it’s gotten me through so much in life; helped me to find a calm and patient place when overly excited, given me a distraction when overwhelmed… I hope it does the same for you – and of course, you can make really cute things, too!
Looks good!
