I made a new friend!! And so did my girls!! This is big doings for us. We’ve been on Bainbridge for a month and have been Jonesing just a tad for some friends to play with. My two older girls are in school and have made friends there, but not in our neighborhood. Being an adult who doesn’t work outside the home, it can be difficult to meet new people.

My very dear friend is responsible for my hook up with the new friend.  New Friend used to live on the same street as Dear Friend. She and her family moved up here a few weeks before we did. And guess what?? They live right around the corner! How’s that for coincidental awesomeness?  It took a few weeks for us to actually meet in person, but we’ve been emailing quite a bit. New Friend was a big help in us finding our rental house, getting my oldest enrolled in school, and giving us advice for all things Bainbridge.

So she and her adorable son came over to our house yesterday afternoon. She brought a plate of yumminess and we shared a bottle of Merlot. Soul mates, no? The kids ran around yelling and screaming and generally having a great time. The boy is awesome and quickly declared my girls’ barbies stupid (they are) and taught them to do the armpit fart.  Very impressive move.  They were so in awe of this skill you wouldn’t believe it!

New Friend and I talked and talked and sipped our wine and gobbled her tasty treats.  Turns out her husband and mine have a few interests in common. Of course we immediately decided we must get them together, as wives do.  She has graciously invited us over for dinner on  Sunday and none of us can wait!

Making friends at 40 is just as fun as it is at 4.
